City Of Oulu Is One Of The World’s Seven Smartest Cities

15.04.2013

The Intelligent Community Forum, ICF, has compiled a list of its top seven most intelligent cities in the world. One of these cities is Oulu, in Finland. Others in the list include: Columbus in United States, Stratford in Canada, Taichung City in Taiwan, Tallinn in Estonia, Taoyuan County in Taiwan, Toronto in Canada. The cities have to have a level of innovativeness and provide digital technology for their citizens.

The ICF said: 'Intelligent Communities are those which have – whether through crisis or foresight – come to understand the enormous challenges of the Broadband Economy, and have taken conscious steps to create an economy capable of prospering in it. They are not necessarily big cities or famous technology hubs. They are located in developing nations as well as industrialized ones, suburbs as well as cities, the hinterland as well as the coast.' The Top seven are the examples of economic and social transformation in the 21st Century." (Source: www.dailymail.co.uk, 4.4.2013)
