According to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, the exercise sector has been growing tremendously in Finland. The value of the sector is estimated to be already EUR 5.5 billion and the market is as big as gaming and design industries put together.
The biggest growth fields are health and wellness services, sports tourism, communication products as well as entertainment products and services. For example, the sports and exercise services sector grew by EUR 220 million from 2007 to 2011 to EUR 800 million.
There are more young developing companies in the exercise sector than in any other sector in Finland. At the same time, demand for new technological solutions is growing, as people are becoming more interested in measuring their performance and health with smart technologies during exercise.
