Finnish Pulp Mills Make Major Investments

14.01.2014

Finnish pulp mills are making production records, thanks to high demand in Asia and the decrease of domestic paper production. The pulp and paper industry is currently among the most important export industries with timber, petroleum products and transport equipment. The pulp and paper industry recorded 13 % growth in exports in the beginning of 2013.

Performing at this level requires constant investments and Finnish companies are doing just that. Metsä Fibre has announced € 33 million and UPM € 47 million investments to their pulp mills. During the last three years Metsä Fibre has increased production by over 100 000 tons and UPM’s goal is to increase their production by roughly 200 000 tons within the next three years.
