Finnish forestry industry’s largest investment in history will be taking place in Äänekoski, where Metsä Fibre will build a bio product plant replacing its old pulp mill. The investment will be worth €1.1 billion when the necessary permits have been obtained. The objective is to have the bio product plant in action in 2017 and it will process wood material into high-quality pulp, bio-energy and a variety of biomaterials.
The bio product plant will increase the amount of renewable energy in Finland by two percent and the added annual value of exports is expected to increase by € 0.5 billion. The investment will also create more than 2500 jobs. (Source: www.tekniikkatalous.fi, 24.4.2014)
