Finland Gets A Space Accelerator

European Space Agency (ESA) opens a space business accelerator in Finland with a goal to found 50 new companies in the field. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, ESA, and Aalto University signed a contract on 30th of November 2017 to establish space industry start-up accelerator in Finland. The accelerator supports Finland’s space strategy which aims to elevate Finnish space industry to world class level.

The accelerator opens industries and companies a connection to European space technology solutions through ESA’s channels and programs. The accelerator will also support research, development and training in the field.

Companies which can apply to the accelerator must be under five years old and have innovative technology for the use of space industry, or use space data or space technologies in their activities. The first application period will start in the beginning of 2018 and the program will run at least for five years. (Source: Tekniikka ja Talous, 30.11.2017)
