Finnish Wind Power Capacity Exceeded 2000 MW in 2017

According to the Finnish Wind Power Association, the Finnish wind power capacity exceeded 2000 MW during 2017. There were 153 new plants built with a capacity of 515 MW in 2017. The capacity has grown very fast as it was only 1000 MW two years ago. 

At the moment, there are 700 wind power plants in Finland with a capacity of 2044 MW. The plants produced 4.8 TWh of electricity in 2017, which accounted of 5.6 % of electricity consumption and 7.4 % of energy production in Finland.

The growth is expected to continue as there are 4000 MW worth of projects at planning and building stage. (Source: Tekniikka & Talous 23.1.2018)
