Google Investing €600 Million to a Data Centre in Finland

06.09.2019

Google has announced an investment of €600 million to a new data centre to be built in Hamina, Finland. Google already has one data centre in Hamina, which was opened in 2011 to the premises of a closed down paper mill. The new data centre will be built to the same area and it will increase Google’s total investments to already €1.4 billion in Finland.

The data centres will run completely on renewable energy. Google signed three new energy deals with three Finnish wind power parks in 2018. The wind power parks have a combined capacity of 190 MW. (Source: YLE, 27.5.2019)
