Large Transport And Logistics Projects In Finland

Helsinki expands its railyard with €60 million. The investment will increase the main railway station’s capacity from 74 trains to 90 trains in an hour. The project will be completed between 2016-2020 and it will include underground and surface works, new security equipment, cabling and communications purchases.

Tampere has begun building its tram network. The first stage of the tram network is estimated to cost €283 million and it should be completed by 2021.

Also, Helsinki and Espoo are planning a combined tram project worth of €275 million which would connect east of Helsinki and Espoo’s Keilaniemi. It is estimated that the construction would start in 2019 and the line would be completed by 2021.

Danish logistics company DSV will build a logistics centre with 50 000 m2 of warehouse and terminal space as well 4000 square meters of head office premises to Hakkila, Vantaa. The building will represent the latest technology and when completed it will employ up to 500 employees.
