Vegetarian Food Products Are In Demand In Finland

16.12.2016

Finnish grocery retailers report that vegetarian food products’ growth has been so big that there is more demand than supply in this product category. Some consumers have left stores empty handed as shelves have been cleared by shoppers.

The most popular products have been vegetarian cheeses, soy and seitan cuts and sausages, as well ready-meals and convenience foods. The grocery retailers tell that vegetables and fruits are also selling more than before as people are looking for healthy eating options.

Finnish companies have started to meet the demand and new products have been launched during 2016. These include among others convenient pulled oat and fava bean products as well as a variety of vegetarian pies. (Source: Yle, 7.6.2016)
