Wind Power Continues On Record Growth Track In Finland

According to the Finnish Wind Power Association, 182 new wind power plants were built in Finland in 2016, which sets a new record. In 2015, Finland doubled its wind power capacity to 1005 MW and the 2016 completed plants added further 570 MW to the capacity.

The wind power plants produced 3.1 TWh of electricity last year which accounted 3.6 % of Finnish electricity consumption. It is forecasted that there will be 600-700 MW more wind power capacity constructed in Finland during 2017. (Source: Kauppalehti 23.1.2017)
