Energy conservation

Finland's geographic location and cold climate, together with co-operation between the state, research institutes and energy-intensive industries, have contributed to the development of world leading energy technology, management and expertise. The export of Finnish energy technology has been increasing drastically during the last decade. Finland's core competencies are district heating and cooling, energy-saving technologies and combined heat and power production.

Finnish industries, especially steel and paper manufacturers, have been making substantial improvements in energy efficiency. Highly developed automation and control engineering solutions include energy efficient electric motors, frequency converters, energy metering and load management solutions and equipment for reactive power compensation and harmonic filtering.
