23.03.2018

Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority (HSY) is building a new waste water purification plant to Espoo. HSY will handle the design of the plant and it has signed a project management contract with YIT, which will handle the construction and equipment purchases.

The space for the plant has been already quarried and it is mostly located within bedrock. The construction will begin in April 2018 and it is expected that the plant will be completed in 2022. The investment will be the largest project for HSY and the project management budget signed with YIT is €206 million.

When completed, the plant will handle waste waters of about 550 000 people. The plant will utilize newest technologies and special focus will be taken on nitrogen and phosphorus removal. (Source: Tekniikka & Talous 20.3.2018)
