Finland has about 600 companies with over 11 000 employees manufacturing plastic products. The added value of production was € 993 million, which is 3.2% of the whole chemical industry.
The plastic industry in Finland is affected by the international markets’ fast evolving plastic- and raw material prices, which are also related to crude oil price developments. This has made the plastic businesses flexible and adjustable in relation to the changing markets. There are a handful of companies manufacturing raw plastic and a large amount of businesses producing processed plastic products.
